Let's think about it in a practical sense. People do good to feel good. Thats reason enough to do good. Companies don't sponser events or donate portions of their earnings to charities for the good of it. They do it as a marketing ploy. People think about themselves and that is the way humans are. I am willing to bet that no one would right now give up their homes, food and money to give to a random poor person and sit their and watch them from the street. There are a lot of help centers in the world.
